Alfred Cove is a significant site for bird life in Western Australia, where it is possible to see more than 140 different species of birds including migratory birds that have flown in from as far away as Siberia.
Since 2020 the Friends of the Melville Bird Sanctuary have been advocating for the establishment of the Bird Sanctuary at Alfred Cove.
This will include dedicated viewing platforms and would recognise the significance of the areas bird life and allow for appropriate management of the area.
I look forward to receiving your feedback on this proposal.
